I bought because husbands cancer diagnosis. Dr. Colbert 100% spot on! Husband couldn't eat because of bloat. Cancer doctors wanted him to get peg tube in stomach. Got the plant enzymes and he takes one before each meal. Not only is he eating but he is hungry now that food is moving! Yay dr Colbert!!

I am pleased to provide a review of this publication by well-known Christian physician, Dr. Don Colbert. "Let Food Be Your Medicine" is not a new concept. Chinese have practiced this for thousands of years. Before such things as antibiotics, our pioneer forefathers used food as medicine.This review would have been totally different if I had written it just 24 hours ago. At about 11:00 a.m. CST this morning (11/7/16) I received a diagnosis from my doctor of Stage 4 colon cancer. Consequently, I am about to put the book to the ultimate test. I'll decide if the book is valid or invalid by the results I experience using the ketogenic diet to create an unfriendly environment for cancer cells within my body.Colbert covers the use of food to combat a range of diseases; including: heart disease, obesity, arthritis, ADHD, Type 2 diabetes, cancer, and more. From my own experience, I know that Colbert is spot on with regards to diabetes and heart disease. I've suffered from both, and have managed to not only survive, but thrive by using my own versions of his modified Mediterranean Diet.I'm anxious to once again get a healthy eating program underway and to experience the results of cancer being stopped in its tracks.So.... in 6 months, ask me how I feel about this book, the eating programs, and the other valuable information provided by this volume.Colbert's style is down to earth and is written in English, rather than some "Medicinese" journal or text book. I've enjoyed a number of Dr. Colbert's books over the years. In 2003 I had my first stroke at the age of 51 after living a healthy lifestyle(or so I thought). I've been in extreme pain due from the aftermath of the stroke and from several really bad falls. I had resigned myself to the life of a recluse and not participating much in anything. Then three months ago my husband whose always trying to find something to help make my life a little better. When he came across Dr. Colberts books, "The Keto Diet" and "Let Your Food Be Your Medicine". It took him a month to convince me to try it because the skeptic inside me decided that there was no way this was going to work......Boy was I ever wrong, I have just completed my seventh week of living and eating my way to good health. After going through both books, "The Keto Diet & Let Your Food Be Your Medicine"....We focus on the things Dr. Colbert suggested for me to do to relieve me of my pain. So I went on a very strict version taken from the two books. The first few days were difficult but it was only mind over matter plain and simple. After week one I noticed that my pain was reduced dramatically. I have stuck to the regimen to the letter just as Dr. Colbert described. I am now at the end of week seven and I feel like an absolute new man. I've went from someone who was living each day waiting for my life to end with no promise before me. I can honestly say this has completely and totally changed my life. I'm living with far less pain I've went from a pain level of 7-8 to a pain level of 2-3 and getting better with each new day. I'm now up before 6 am and doing things in the house that I haven't done in years. In closing I want to say you truly are what you eat or don't eat...this has been totally worth it just for the fact that I haven't taken any pain medication since I started this life changing event, and as an added bonus to all of this I've lost 35 lbs. I'm truly not the same man. I not going to call this a diet but instead I'm calling it a "Life Improvement Eating Plan". My life has never been better and I'm eating lots of healthy food and taking less medications and all with my family doctors approval. Thank you Dr. Colbert for giving me a guide to a better and much improved life.

Very good book that explains how the way we eat causes most of our diseases and if we change to a healthy way of eating we canheal our body. I like that he has a 21 day meal plan in the back of the book also.

Love Dr. Colbert! I have quite a few of his books and I plan on adding to my collection until I've got all of them! This book is great, very well written, easy read, and a plethora of invaluable information on how to eat to stay healthy! I am a healthy eater to begin with, but this book has given me a fresh motivation to consider every bite of food I put in my mouth...will it fuel me or weigh me down? I eat to LIVE, not live to eat. I will be buying more copies to give out to friends and family, this information needs to be shared!

The book's scientific explanations and studies are humanized with personal stories about his patients and their results.The fascinating revelation of this book is that lifestyle and diet changes are nothing short of "miracle cures" that have been right in front of our faces all along, yet few are willing to sacrifice their favorite comforts unless their lives are in immediate danger (and sometimes not even then). Dr. Colbert is also a great motivator, not with a threatening finger-in-your-face, but a "you can do this" encouragement that is contagious!Another great book. Keep 'em coming, Dr. Colbert!
