This is my wife's review since she homeschools our son:We bought this book to supplement our English language arts homeschool curriculum. The book has a great layout. It covers 15 heroes with 4 short stories about each hero. There are 6 women and 11 men. (There are 2 husband and wife teams.) The heroes served in many different countries so it is an easy tie to geography. There are dates associated with each hero (birth, start of service) which ties nicely to understand basic history. There are 2 heroes of color giving life a wider view. The heroes come from many different walks of life. Each hero story has identified character traits making teaching easier. There are Bible verses at the end of every short story which is great for weekly scripture memory (or pick 1 for monthly scripture memory). There are also questions at the end of each short story. The questions are deeper than just comprehension of the story.Note: There are few pictures in this book. There are pictures at the introduction story of each hero.Bottom line: The book is great!!!
I love the simplicity. I'm a homeschool mom, and use this as part of our morning routine. Each hero has an introduction followed by three stories of their life. Each of the three stories has a bible verse and 3 discussion questions at the end. It has been a simple way to introduce missions to our kiddos and the discussion takes us just a little deeper into things like our faith, personal character traits, and looking deeper into the Word.
This has been SO good for my 7 year old. We read a story and discuss the questions at the end, which usually sparks more conversation. In addition to being able to talk about what character trait(s) each person showed, I can remind him of these hero tales during "real life" conversations. He loves history, so the historical and cultural elements in the stories are right up his alley!
Our family loves this book! We read it before bed. It also has discussion questions for the whole family to join in after the story. It's a fun and interesting way to learn history and biographies on other believers. Highly recommend!

Great book that I'll use for our kids homeschool!
I have two of these books (different volumes) and it adds so much to our homeschool day! Even if you didn't homeschool, this would be a wonderful book for bedtime. It's a fantastic set!!
