Jill Austin was such a relatable Christian leader. She was not afraid to show her flaws, nor was she unable to laugh at herself. Before , she became a much desired Christian Leader and Speaker, she was herself a Master Potter. So this allegorical story comes from that depth of experience, as well as her unusual sensitivity to human nature and follibles that she was able to produce this very thorough book. You will perhaps laugh and sometimes cringe at the different characters in this book. It brings light to the likeness of God from the Bible, with Him being the Potter and we are the clay.And yet, O LORD, you are our Father. We are the clay, and you are the potter. We all are formed by your hand. Isaiah 64:8
There were times I "had to" set it aside and ponder what I read, it touched deep down into areas I thought I had overcome long ago, and I didn't necessarily enjoy going through it again, but it has been worth it.As I read I realize that I am being prepared for my next "firing". Scared witless is one way to describe what I am feeling on the upper level, but deeply anticipatory is what my heart of hearts, feels. Longing to go deeper into relationship with Jesus is the goal.Enjoy is not big enough to describe the experience of this book.Well worth the read!
This novel was masterfully written. If you enjoy allegories, you will really love this book. I wept openly as I read the journey of this broken vessel and could relate to her plight and her story of being found by the Master Potter and remade into a vessel to be used for His glory. It is a tale of heartache and joy, surrender and fulfillment, of terror and comfort. It is anointed and wonderful!!! Be sure to keep some tissues nearby and prepare your heart to be moved by the Master Potter. I didn't want it to end!
I recommend this book for anyone who feels as though they are sitting on the shelf. For a number of years now, the Lord has been refining and remaking me. This book gave me a lot of comfort in the sense that what I am going through is not unusual. I can totally relate to the seasons that Beloved went through. The allegory spoke to me at a deep level. This is not the kind of book to sit and read just to be entertained. But if you are questioning where you are in life, This is a great book to read.
Love this ladies writings! Allegory of how Father God transforms us out of ugly broken pottery to beautiful usable pottery! He takes the broken parts and restores them to beautiful pieces of sets or in a family. The how is reading these stories that are true of every human being. When we give our bodies broken, decayed, selfish, hurt, emotional beings to the Holies of Holies thru Jesus Christ to make us beautiful, healed, restored usable human beings restored by His love!
This is really an amazing book. It gives such an interesting look into what one can't see. Even though it is fictional there is quite a bit of truth in this nugget. Very moving and entertaining especially if you are familiar with God's word, church culture, the process of being refined, the battle that invisibly rages around us, redemption, sin, and God's unending Grace.
It is an allegorical journey where you can see and understand how much God values you.We all have a calling and a destiny on our lives. We are so valuable to God; He loves us soooo much.Each one of us have a call to do particular things that only we can do (for God) and no one else can do it.You are so unique and special and no one can replace you for the assignments that are designed just for you by God.Learn to be soft clay in the Master Potter's hands. He has only the best for you....."His yoke is easy and His burden is light."
Jill Austin writes from the heart. I laughed and cried with each of the characters. When forsaken goes through her trials you want totell her no, no, no but then you realize it is her choice even when you know it is the wrong choice. Master Potter lets her makeher choices but the holy spirit and her guardian angel is always by her side. This is a great book.
